Humayra Akhter Himu, serving Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) as Assistant Professor of Environmental Science & Engineering Department under the faculty of Textile Chemical Engineering since December, 2018. Before joining at BUTEX, She had almost three years of working experience in industry. After completing her B.Sc. in Textile Engineering specialization in Wet Processing Engineering, she joined as an officer – Environment & Chemical Responsible at Esquire Knit Composite Ltd. on February, 2016. There she handled different audits and projects of chemical and environmental management of the entire industry and worked with various development organizations such as German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) Dhaka, International Finance Corporation (IFC) – The World Bank etc. She was also involved in research & development work with new dyestuffs and auxiliaries to improve the existing production process and quality. She attended many professional seminars and workshops regarding Eco-Friendly Production Process, Sustainable Material Sourcing, Sustainable garment & textile industry, Chemical Management, Waste & Waste Water Management, Workplace Environment Management, Energy management in industries, CSR etc. After servicing there for about two and half years, she was appointed in a Swedish retailer company, H&M as a Quality Assurance (QA) in HOME department on October, 2018. Having a strong passion to share her knowledge, to develop the industrial sector of Bangladesh and to create textile professionals for the sustainable growth of the textile and apparel industry, she joined at BUTEX.
